Wonderful stay. Great food and drink, and room was nice. Situated in a lovely secluded area Will be back
This must be one of the most enjoyable pubs in Dorset, or even n the UK. Incredibly charming venue, situated just north of Dorchester, but in the heart of the countryside for the most amazing walks. Mike and team were just exceptional in so many ways. We turned up late, with 3 tired and hungry children and a wet dog, we had brilliantly quick service and food that they adored. We had the prawn twisters (which sadly the kids also loved), the game rarebit, beef pie, fish pie, pheasant amongst other bits. It was all perfect. Nicely cooked, hearty, but more interesting and enjoyable than usual pub fare. The wine list was wonderfully varied with some really lovely bottles on it. And the secret wine menu with magnums and high end burgundy! Sadly we didn’t get to this but we can’t wait to go back and try!! Thanks so much for a brilliant lunch. We can’t wait to come back.
Excellent rural country pub. Friendly South African host, wonderful food. Dog friendly. Great location with parking and garden. The creamy mushrooms and pate were great. Would recommend to anyone!
Brilliant, tucked away place for walks in deep countryside. Friendliest place I've been to in years, in one day got to know owner, staff and 3 guests. Rooms as good as photos, everything working. Good top class, fine dining standard. Home made biltong a hidden gem for any Saffers. Property a real dream, thatched accommodation such a find these days. Will be back!
A really delicious dinner: chef's specials and superb puddings washed down with great wine (and beer). Always welcoming, super friendly and attentive service. Top notch and a lovely place!
