Lovely clean rooms, the staff all worked very hard but stayed ,smiling and friendly. ( hard when you have a load of drunken people) from the young girl on reception to the cleaning crew , all so helpful especially a young guy named Bradley, he was getting harassment from everyone wanting pictures taken but he done it with a smile. Food amazing . If you don't stay at the Hall, you need to go just for the food
We went for a Christmas party night. Great food! Good service, if a little tetchy at times! Wondful atmosphere and a lovely room. A great place, I think we'll try as a couple for a meal.
Sunday lunch - the environment was lovely. We sat in the conservatory for food. Lunch itself was nice, too much gravy, plate was swimming, had I known I'd of asked for it seperate and food not hot enough. Service was OK, told where our table was and its number and order at the bar. No menus and not told where it was. Ordered and paid at the bar, 2 x 3 meat Sunday lunches and a bottle of Shiraz, water for table. Charged just short of £74.The meal was £18.95 each, so wine £32 a bottle. Service was fast, but food was not hot enough for me, we weren't asked mid meal if everything was ok, which I thought was standard practice. All in all, the food was nice, service ok, wine prices way too high.
Best chips you'll get in Durham, no contest. Beer options aren't the best but you can't win em all, I never stayed in the hotel so can't comment on that however I do see they often have wedding events there so they must be doing something right. Massive dining area I've never seen it too full to be seated, nice big beer garden with a outdoor play area for the little ones.
My daughter held her wedding here last month. Staff were absolutely amazing- nothing was a problem to them and the venue was beyond what we hoped for. Can’t recommend this place highly enough or the team of staff who helped us all the way through.
