The Bluebell is a proper pub, offering well-kept beer, honest pub food and a warm welcome. Behind the bar you will find friendly staff always ready to pour you a decent pint or good glass of wine.
The Bluebell is a privately owned free house offering a selection of four British cask ales such as Adnams Ghost Ship, St. Austell's Trelawny, Fuller’s London Pride and regular changing guest ales from across the UK. We also offer two fantastic IPA’s; Brewdog’s
Punk and Meantime’s London Pale Ale, alongside our own ‘Bluebell’ lager and Amstel. Adnams Wild Wave Cider is on tap as is their Blackshore Stout. Our wine list contains some really convivial drinking, all available by the glass or bottle.
Our ‘Gin-ologists’ (gin drinking experts!) will be only too happy to talk you through our shelves of Gins.
Food is served here every day and throughout the pub. The Menu caters for meat lovers
as well as vegetarians and vegans. The menu’s emphasis is on local and seasonal with everything made fresh in our kitchen. The Bluebell offers a Dining room in which we
hold dinner parties, birthday parties and private ‘do’s’.
Helpston is a lovely English conservation village with The Bluebell at the heart of it, an
English pub with the tradition of drink, socialising and satisfying, honest pub food.
Our pub offers a fantastic open fire for those cold wintery days, and in warmer weather
the courtyard area is perfect for lazing with a pint in hand or a nice chilled bottle of wine.
We are very dog friendly and well behaved pets are most welcome throughout the bar areas which means they can be with you while you eat.
The Bluebell is an ‘Inn’ in the original sense of the word, offering overnight accommodation to weary travellers! Adjoining the pub were the original workshops -
The Brew House, The Blacksmiths, The Carpenters, and The Wheelwrights, and now converted into four comfortable guest rooms.

Terrific place - delightful staff and the food was wonderful. The beef and onion pie was outstanding. Will certainly come back if we're ever in the area again.
We had a very pleasant stay. The room was superb with the additional touches of a small fridge, stocked with bottled water and milk for hot drinks. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was excellent and a good atmosphere in the bar which made us feel very welcome.
Very good food and service. The chef is more than helpful and obliging with any special diet or requests. Amazing take aways also catered for. My fish and chips were great with crispy home cooked chips and crunchy batter loved it.
Went for lunch on Sunday 26 Nov. Waited over an hour after ordering my meal, to be told that the kitchen had no more lamb. Eventually served a warm meal, not hot 15 mins later. Food was okay, but could be better. The service however was appalling! The waiting staff lost our order, then tried to tell us it was due to busy restaurant, and finally capped it off by refusing any sort of compensation. The owner was particularly offensive. Do not go on busy days!
Met a friend for a relaxed lunch. Nice and clean, relaxed service, no rushing. The food was good, a little confused but ok, I was told my chicken was stuffed with tomatoes, turned out to be spicy salami, fortunately I don't mind salami, just a bit of a surprise. It was busy and only one waitress in the bar area where we sat. A bloke came and stoked the fire, putting logs on. This made the room quite smoky, made my eyes water, and my throat dry. It did take a while to clear, and that wasn't good. We were told the wind was in the wrong direction. We did order a cup of tea with our dessert, but this didn't arrive. Overall, it was OK, we enjoyed our catch-up and had a bit of a giggle.
