We came here just the 2 of us for a spontaneous lunch date. Booked online which was very easy to do, location great with of parking. We were directed to our table, which was spacious too.
Fantastic restaurant with lovely, attentive staff and value for money! We were seated within a minute, literally, so I was impressed from the offset. Caitlin, who was behind the bar, served us. She was extremely polite and a really good laugh. She made the whole ordering process not boring! I also wanted a custom drink and Caitlin was more than happy to help me. Our starter came out very quickly, was presented well and piping hot. For a main, I had the sirloin steak and my partner had the bluebell dirty burger (or something like that) and neither of us could finish it all as the portions were so generous. They weren’t stingy on the peppercorn sauce either, which makes a nice change from other restaurants. Also I asked for my steak to be medium rare and that’s exactly what I got. It was perfectly cooked and not dry. When it came to leaving, they were happy to give me a paper cup to take my drink in so that it wasn’t wasted. Overall very pleased with the level of service and food. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone. We will most certainly be back!!
I had the small plate, which was ample even for a good appetite. The carvery was good quality and yummy. Maybe not on the same level as Toby Carvery for some of the vegetables, but I would definitely return.
Been several times for carvery and off menu. Food is delicious but service could do with a kick start. Staff training would be a good idea, it's not hard to spot dirty empty tables and go clean them! Other than that it's a great meal and a lovely pub.
We went for lunch not an overnight stay - hence the no stars for Rooms. I ordered The Farm Giant Burger. I'd had this the week before at another location and thought it was delicious. The fried egg (I know it sounds weird to have this on a burger) was next to the lettuce and tomato on the top. This meant it was weird rather than the previous week's version where the egg was next to the bun. The contrast of fried egg next to cold salad was just odd - and I will ask in future perhaps if I have this again to make sure the salad is not next to the egg. I quite like an egg salad sandwich but that's when you're expecting it all to be cold. The mushrooms however were between the burgers and this worked well. I'd recommend always that the salad goes on the bottom of the bun, next to the burger rather than next to the egg. The idea of this is to mop up any juices from the burger above and stop the bottom bun dissolving. Was a lovely burger though. Cakeaway was excellent. I had the cookies and cream cheesecake which was very nice.
