The Blue Lamp celebrated its 70th Anniversary in November 2019. For this entire period, it has been in the ownership of the Brown family.
For much of our life, The Blue Lamp has been a focal point and hub for Aberdeen’s folk music scene, but beyond the folk and trad scene – including one of the longest running folk clubs in Scotland – the Blue Lamp is home to Jazz Scotland (Aberdeen). The extensive list of musicians, groups, bands, ceilidhs, promoters, festivals, clubs, University societies, comedy nights and charity events is too long to name in its entirety.
We serve a fine array of Beers, Wines, Spirits and Cocktails in an atmospheric, Candle lit, environment.

2 comedians we saw were brilliant. Pina colada was awful seemed to be lacking pineapple juice we seemed to only get a half glass and we turned up at 6:30pm as stated on the tickets. And we're told by the bar staff the show would be kicking of by half 7. But nothing happened until 9. Kinda killed the vibe in the group I was with.
Sunday jazz session was wonderful and the atmosphere was great. Lovely venue and staff. Voted best jazz venue in the city for a reason.
Giving one star on food because as far as I'm aware they don't serve any. The live music is usually on point, I come around to the folk club upstairs regularly. Upstairs tends to be cold in winter!
Great jazz musicians, and old fashioned cocktails (although they couldn't make a martini). We were there for a Sunday afternoon jazz session and throughly enjoyed it, two amazing bands and a friendly sized crowd. Would definitely go back.
A special place. Over the years we have had some special times in the function room upstairs. As Bryan Ferry sings,"Don't Ever Change". In fact that song is probably still on the "compact disc" Dukebox
