About us

The Blue Boar first opened its doors in 1721 in what is now a Grade II listed building with parts dating back to the 17th Century. The pub been the hub of the community for centuries and was linked to the 101st Airborne Easy Company (Band of Brothers), who were based in Aldbourne in the run up to D-Day. It was then frequented by officers; enlisted men had to use the Bell Inn - no longer a pub. In the 1970s the pub saw a brief name change as it appeared as the Cloven Hoof in The Dr Who series Daemons

Miles and Kay became the 32nd Blue Boar tenants in December 2022 with Phil continuing his 40 years of pulling the pints as head barman.

An absolute gem of a pub. We was a group of 10 people and had booked a table very easily. Received excellent service the moment we walked through the door by a lovely welcoming smile and greeting . Lovely cosy fire burning away in the bar area. Restaurant is beautiful and clean. The food was outstanding from starters to desserts. The staff are so friendly, professional and nothing is trouble. Will definitely be returning again.

Amazing place, tucked out the way in Aldbourne. Lovely food, the larger was really quite nice and we sat outside in the lovely warm evening. Staff were very friendly and the dog on the table next to us was so cute!
