The BlackFriars pub has risen from the ashes and been lovingly restored bigger and better than its previous incarnation. With capacity for over 220 revellers, we’re on a pilgrimage to bring together friends, loved ones and strangers alike, to break bread and share a drink.
We’ve resurrected the pub, which was rebuilt in 1886, following a 15-year hiatus, when it lay derelict due to fire damage.
Enjoyed some really tasty food here. The butternut squash gnocchi was delicious, and so too was the banana knickerbocker glory. Service was great. I would just say that even though food was delicious, it's slightly over priced.
We had an absolutely glorious festive 3 course lunch with very dear friends. I had the vegetable stew and dumplings which was divine. My husband had turkey with all the trimmings which he said was delicious. The tiramisu Yule log was a different take on the usual fare but very moreish. Service was exemplary. The rose prosecco was so good!!! This was our first time here and we will definitely be back. Sign up to the newsletter and get 10% off. So worth it.
This was a great place for food and drink, reasonably priced. I came here for an evening meal with my boyfriend. We had a three course meal and drinks. Each course was delicious, including fried squid, scallops, steak. Quick service, and a very attentive waiter, Antonello, who was amazing. We will definitely come again. Can't recommend it highly enough! Give stars!
Visited last night after a good recommendation and have to say myself and my wife were not disappointed. The service was absolutely amazing couldn’t fault it. The food is fantastic, we started with the squid and prawns, we’ve had calamari in Spain and this is so much better the squid melts in your mouth. I started with pigs head crocket and my wife had the scallops both well cooked and very tasty. For mains we both had the cod loin with watercress mash again cooked to perfection. Couldn’t find room for a pud as the portions are generous, but I managed to squeeze in the cheese and biscuits. All in all a very good restaurant and if in Manchester is a must
A most enjoyable experience. Good menu for a Sunday and not just for a roast, my wife had a tremendous pie (top marks for the pastry). The staff were great, coping easily with my father through to my niece, not an easy combo! We felt special amidst the busyness of many others enjoying their Sunday lunch. Well worth it.
