About us

As with its sister pub, the Red Lion Inn at Hinxton, food at the Black Bull is all about making the most of the great choice of local suppliers and reflecting the changing seasons. The result is rustic gastropub dining at its very best.

Both pubs have clocked up numerous AA rosettes for their food over the years under our watch.

We are very fortunate to have an awesome resident (his entire family) chef at the Bull - Rob Burling. He is quickly becoming a local legend - and this Velvet article will give you a glimpse why. Think fusion of Trinity College, Michelin Stars, Caribbean Mustique Island.

We have a Classic Pub and lunchtime sandwich menu for regular favourites, as well as a frequently changing A La Carte menu and our daily Specials Board, which changes according to the fish brought in that day. All menus are available throughout the pub and we encourage guests to eat or drink where they feel most comfortable – bar, restaurant or outside patio/lawn areas.

We do have a children’s menu, however we can also offer most of our dishes in any size or adaptation requested. It is a diverse menu that satisfies most tastes. We also have a significant number of vegetarian and gluten-free dishes.

We do not have a dogs’ menu, but they are welcome in the bar restaurant and garden, and we are fortunate to have a great local water supplier.

We have regular Special Events, normally on Friday nights, of varying styles under our “Pint of …” series (eg Theatre, Jazz …). We also have a summer and winter Beer Festival each year. See our News/What’s On page for up coming dates.
