I have only eaten here a few times and never stayed in the rooms - I love the atmosphere and ambiance of an old historic building so gets my vote - although I thought the food portions slightly meagre for the price. But very good all the same.

Great staff, great room, great breakfast, fab relaxed bar and atmosphere. Thankfully didn't feel or smell like a commercial pub for the masses. Evening meals - I want to be more positive but the fillet steak and other meals were just OK.

Visited a while ago .. food excellent but restaurant was a bit cold. Revisited today, roaring fire 🔥 super toasty. Has the feel of a traditional coaching Inn. Restaurant / Hotel is on the A4 between Reading and Maidenhead, so a great location. Today we had fish and chips and home made chicken mushrooms pie. Both delicious! In fact I'd say the pie was one of the best I've had ! Great midweek offers & a great food .. what is there not to likely. Will definitely be back.

Went to the Bird in Hand for one of their Friday music nights with friends and took my little dog - we both couldn't have been made more welcome! The food was excellent, there was a great selection of wine, a lovely pint of Guinness and even a doggy menu. One of the people I was with is really finicky with his food but they went out of their way to make sure that his was cooked just as he liked it and even laid on the exact wine he wanted. The live music was great fun with some fantastic audience participation and really added to the night. I didn't stay but the rooms looked great and it's got really nice outdoor space with plenty of cover if the British weather decides to do its thing. Like others, I'm sure I'll be back!

The Bird in Hand is a lovely hotel with helpful, friendly staff and comfortable accommodation. There were a few delightful touches like soft music in the room on arrival, beautiful toiletries and complementary drinks in the fridge. We were returning to this hotel to celebrate our Golden Wedding, as it was our wedding reception venue 50 years earlier! We were organising from overseas, so perhaps a little more complicated, but the staff were superb and everything came together perfectly on the day of our party and meal. The function room looked beautiful and was perfect in size. Serving staff were courteous and discreet. So ....a big "Thank You!" to Zoe and her team for a truly memorable Golden Wedding, as well as to Suzy and Carrie for all the e mails and telephone planning beforehand and Carrie on the day too!
