A 17th Century pub in a picturesque Cotswold market town in the heart of the community
Our talented chefs have created a modern British menu serving seasonal dishes that celebrate produce from Daylesford Organic, our sister farm. The bedrooms have been restored with considered attention to detail, drawing on the skills of local artisans and artists. From crackling log fires to a huge orchard garden for families to drink in the sunshine, The Bell provides an escape from the bustle of everyday life.
Sad to say despite the pub being really pretty and beautifully done with friendly staff the food is painfully average. Really disappointing roast with the pork belly that was meant to come with “amazing crackling” was overdone and had zero crackling. I barely touched my food and still had a hefty bill to pay at the end. Go to the bull instead, food is 1000 x times better.
Was keen to visit the Bell as quite liked what the Bamfords did with the Fox and Wild Rabbit, so booked a table for a Sunday roast. We had a lovely table in one of the many little rooms off the main bar, and plenty of space for our little dog and to feel like it was nice and private. The pub has been lovingly restored and looks beautiful, and added bonus there is a big car park in a village notoriously hard to find parking. Ordered the roast pork and my friend had the beef, we both agreed the elements and cooking of the meat was excellent, as was the extra gravy and cauliflower cheese. While the portion wasn’t the biggest, it was a case of quality over quantity on this occasion, although both is always preferable for a roast. I’d definitely return if I was back in town. On a side note, I wish people would stop with the ‘Bull vs Bell’ debate, both are lovely pubs, and ultimately owned by ‘out of towners’ who have seen something in the village and to add to its already great charm.
Unfortunately the veggie food was not good tonight. The decor is stunning but the pasta was one of the worst I’ve had. For a Daylesford pub reccomended highly by friends, we expected more. The manager was lovely and accommodating, removing this off the bill - but we won’t return until the menu has been uplifted
My husband and I came here for our honeymoon and we had an absolutely fantastic time. It was the perfect place to get away from everything (& everyone!), and just enjoy each others company. The food was delicious both at breakfast and dinner, our room was stunning with views of the countryside from our bed and our roll-top bath, and the staff were all very accommodating. Now I'm just dreaming of being back - I can't wait to book our next stay!
Fabulous food , lovely staff and expert barman. The renovations have been superbly done without losing any of the old pub charm. The room was extremely comfortable and nice touch to have fridge with fresh milk not dreadful uht stuff. Only one suggestion would be to have a mirror near a socket for hair drying (seems common error in so many hotels). Lovely scrambled egg and smoked salmon this morning to hopefully soak up some of last nights pisco and whisky. Will certainly recommend
