The Bell and Crown Inn is a traditional inn situated 0.3 miles from the centre of town. It has been trading for over 150 years. There is a split level beer garden where regular events and BBQ’s are held.
The pub has a skittle alley that doubles up as a function room. Meals are served at lunchtimes only and include daily specials. Real ales are normally sourced from local breweries and include Tapstone, Branscombe Vale, Otter and St Austell.
Four of us popped in for Lunch. Total experience was 10/10. We all had the chicken pie and it could not of been better
Cracking pint of Guinness and the Sunday dinners looked spot on. Unfortunately had dinner plans already. Proper village pub with a nice atmosphere, didn't feel unwelcome as a visitor like you can in some places.
First time we had tried this pub for lunch. We received a warm welcome but the dining area was very cold. Like so many other outlets the menu was limited but what we chose was fine and prices per item were very reasonable. I suspect that evening trade is much busier that lunch times so bound to be a much better atmosphere then.
Warm friendly village local with 2 excellent real Ales and special food evenings. Welcoming staff and large car park.
The food here is really bad. The pie was disgusting and bought in, no meat in it. The battered fresh fish was tiny. Should have known better as the place was empty! The barman was the best bit about the pub as he was very nice lad. Other than that terrible!
