Went in with my partner. Lovely hotel and great menu. However, it was freezing cold and the “woman” behind the bar was unwelcoming, arrogant and also rude to another staff member in front of me. She clearly has an attitude problem. Glad I don’t work with her, she’s vile in every way. Learn some manners! Great food though so credit where it’s due
We had a wedding lunch and dinner and stayed for two nights at the Bear. I was immediately impressed by the attention we got when we were organising the event. The staff were all so friendly and accommodating. They made it very easy to book all the rooms and pre-order food. We went for a visit before the day to confirm everything and Jasmine was amazing, so kind and helpful. On the actual day, there was flooding in the grounds of the hotel but I wouldn't have known because everyone continued to keep everything running for us. I honestly was so amazed at how friendly and calm the staff were even when dealing with such a difficult situation. Corina even found time to ask us if we wanted lunch by the fire. Thank you so much for making out wedding day so special. We will be back! Jess and Damian

Excellent Hotel, Old and quirky, with rooms off from the Hotel, bar and restaurant, nice room, could do with some tlc, comfy bed, little noisy due to the original old windows not been a good fit, but a warm room. The main Hotel with the pub and restaurant had evening meal was excellent, food plentiful and well cooked and an excellent meal, had the stacked burger with pulled pork, amazing all I can say, service excellent, breakfast next morning was again very good, plentiful and all freshly cooked. Look forward to visiting again as great location and very nice.
We stayed here for 3 nights, there were some issues with the room (it's an old building!) But the staff, especially Jasmine, were absolutely amazing. Sorted everything with a smile and made our stay extra special. The food here is amazing, the lamb shank especially recommended (our thanks to Paula, for great service) but everyone at the Bear is amazing. Comfy beds, good food, lovely people, delicious breakfast, what more could you ask for? Well done team Bear x
