The Barn is at the rustic heart of Cologin and it is so much more than just a pub. Describing the Barn’s unique ambience is not easy – suffice to say that once you’ve been you will return!
The Barn is proud to have retained our VisitScotland ‘Taste our Best’ quality award for the Scottish provenance of our ingredients. Good local food is very important; so too is the Barn’s unique atmosphere with its original slate cattle stalls, real ales and great whisky collection, friendly staff and local musicians (who play regularly throughout the year).
The Barn serves homemade, wholesome lunches and evening meals with blackboard specials including local seafish and shellfish specials as Oban is the Seafood Capital of Scotland.
Stayed in the cabins for a week during the summer, ate here most nights and the food was excellent freshly cooked plus the service was exceptional. Been in much more expensive restaurants that couldn't match this place for the quality of food and service. Plus they allow well behaved dogs in which is a great for pet owners like myself.
The Barn never disappoints, fantastic opening times if you can't manage to squeeze into traditional lunch times. Weekly changing menu, tasty wine at affordable prices. Fantastic cooking always fish courses. Speedy service. Going to the Barn is a no-brainer.
Wonderful food and service, with decent atmosphere. The menu rotates so is not available online, however it had a good selection - including several vegetarian options. Toilets are clean, and there was ample parking. Note it is a single track road for the last mile. Tip: book ahead by calling them if coming at a moderately busy time and wanting to eat inside.
What an absolutely fantastic place the food was outstanding!! The portions were huge too. The place has a great warm home like atmosphere and you can't beat the welcome you get from Julie and Angus. Can't wait for our next visit 😁
We were a tour group of about 18 people and I think everyone truly enjoyed their dinner here. My meal was an absolutely delicious bowl of local mussels as an appetizer and a most appealing looking and tasting ratatouille tart and potatoes for entree . This local pub has the friendliest owner and such a fun young staff.
