About us

Allow us to introduce you to The Alchemist cocktail bar and restaurant at Brindley Place in Birmingham, a simply superb addition to our family of devilishly delightful cocktail and dining experiences. My friend and I popped in for a couple of drinks as we knew The Alchemist did drinks with a twist and we were both curious. And wow we were not disappointed at all! The bar is on the first floor above Las Iguanas but there is lift access. When we arrived it wasn't busy so managed to grab a seat instantly, and the server who took our drinks orders on the night was ever so friendly, credit to the staff as we couldn't fault them. Me and my friend had ordered the Raspberry Ripple cocktail to start off with, it didn't last very long at all as it was so nice. I then opted for the Bubblebath cocktail, again a beautiful drink which didn't last much longer. Finally we were curious over their version of shots, called Cosmic Oysters, which arrived in these gorgeous metal oyster shells, the flavour was almost like a lemon version of Benylin cough syrup, if you can imagine that, but it was really nice! A 10/10 visit and we both agreed that we would come back again on our next outing to Birmingham.

We went as a large group for one of the cocktail making masterclasses. I think I can speak on behalf of my group and say that it was an incredibly fun experience with everyone getting stuck in and with our instructor leading us well. Even when we were making a bit of a mess. The cocktails themselves were also fantastic and fun. I would highly recommend having a go at the masterclass here.

Food was delicious, everything was really unique and had a fantastic taste. It was a great atmosphere and really enjoyed the music. Would love to point out the service by daisy and Jack/jake was amazing and made our time really enjoyable. They were very fast and there whenever we needed them and we also had a laugh with them. Thank you alchemist!!

Service is slow due to the high volume of people using the bar/venue. The atmosphere is fabulous and very well situated in Brindley Place. The drink selection is extensive and taste amazing! The menu is based around the periodic table to match the theme. The bar staff are showmen and create a great atmosphere whilst you wait. The drinks are also a show in themselves. Just a shame about the wait but they obviously take time to make!

The theatrical cocktails added a fun and exciting touch to the evening. However, some of the drinks were a tad too sweet and had an artificial taste. On the food front, the dishes were enjoyable, though some flavours felt slightly artificial and heavy. Additionally, I noticed that a majority of the items either had fried components or were accompanied by mayo, which limited the variety a bit. What truly stood out was the impeccable service. The staff was incredibly enthusiastic and helpful throughout the evening, ensuring that we had a fantastic time.

(expired). Test Bookings Having held down a residency with Liverpool heavyweight ‘ENRG’ since the event began 6 years ago, Blehrin has been part of the furniture in the North of the UK for some time. Being the solo resident for this series of electronic experiences has seen him share the stage with some of the best artists the world has to offer including Jon Hopkins, The Black Madonna, Peggy Gou, Floating Points, Tale of Us, Four Tet, Daniel Avery and Bicep to name but a few. This eclectic mix of bookings requires his record collection to be diverse and forward thinking - a collection that has been built up and influenced by a host of different genres including funk, jazz, electronica and hip hop. Outside of his ENRG residency, over the years Blehrin has had the pleasure of playing at some of the most well respected venues around such as Mint Warehouse, Ministry of Sound, The Arches, Sankeys and The Button Factory. He has also graced the stages of festivals such as Mint Festival, Gottwood and Parklife. More recently, he again joined forces with life long friend Josh Butler, creating their moniker ‘Norwood’. Their first release coming on R&S Records sister label ‘Apollo Records’. A 4 track EP that brings together both of their influences and delves into the deeper realms of electronica. As a promoter, Blehrin ran parties around the North of England under his brand ‘Macooza’, bringing the party to all sorts of weird and wonderful locations. Guests included the likes of Adam Shelton and Lazare Hoche.
