Called in for a lunchtime drink , whilst there a few people called in too and asked if they served food , even though they didn't, the bar staff said that if they wanted to buy sandwiches opposite, they were quite happy for them to bring them back and eat at the Albion with a drink , very good customer service to me
Have come here a lot and repeatedly given it a chance. Initially seemed a little closed off but I assume they were just rather standoffish for people who weren’t regulars. Despite being a repeat customer, service never improved. The blonde haired lady behind the bar with glasses is perhaps one of the absolute worst customer service experiences I’ve had in my life. She is repeatedly smug, blunt, unaccommodating and a bit stuck up. She seemed absolutely disgusted by us even asking for a drink. She is a disservice to the pub and I feel sorry for those tourists unfortunate enough to meet her.
A pub ha been on this site since 1780. Great location opposite the harbour and next to the Town Church. Three different bars and a pool room. Full of character and serves a decent pint of Liberation Ale. Apparently it's the closest pub to a church in all of Britain.
If you are visiting the beautiful island of Guernsey, I would avoid entering this pub. I asked for a glass of lemonade and a glass of orange juice, and got a glass of the two mixed together. I do not dispute that this was a genuine mix up. However, the way the pub handled this small mistake on behalf of the barman was disgraceful and certainly did not display the Guernsey values of trust and friendliness which we pride ourselves on. Not only did I, the customer, have to pay for the barman’s mistake, but also had to tolerate verbal abuse from him. When I politely pointed out that I had asked for two separate drinks, he rolled his eyes, began to raise his voice, saying ‘you ask for Guiness, you get Guiness.’ I also said I would make this public, to which he said ‘do what you like, love.’ What is most disappointing about this is that I have given the pub the opportunity to rectify this before writing this review. I spoke to a lady who was very friendly over the phone and said I could have a refund. Unfortunately, when I returned to collect the refund for the drink I didn’t ask for, she said she was unable to do this, and denied that the barman had been rude to me. I am under the impression that they saw me as a young person from the UK and therefore had no need to provide a service. I am a 27 year old teacher with connections on Guernsey, and dread to think what impression this pub might give of the island to other visitors. The only way I can describe the people who work in this pub is cowardly. A great shame as the pub has a lot of potential due to it’s location, but my friends, family and I will be staying clear of it.
Superb old pub with great landlord and landlady. Nice beer and good selection of gins. Highly recommend a visit
